Ok, this was an absolute Nightmare to accomplish (probably one of my hardest projects to date). I was honestly tired of Syron being hindered in design purely because he was a Sonic 'Fan' Character and wanted to remove him from the Sonic Universe entirely and put him in his own universe. After ripping my hair out over the past 4 weeks, I finished it. Holy frak that was hard x-x, mostly because Syron's sonic design was very hard to convert to an anthro design, but I managed to do it!

By far one of the hardest undertaking's I've done on deviantart. Thanks for all the help and ideas I was given and it means alot. I'm sorry it took so long too. It was NOT supposed to take me 4 weeks for one image, but school, work, combined with being sick and having some pretty major confidence issues really kept me from operating properly.

Here's the updated bio. Not much was needed as far as changes, but all evidence that he 'was' a sonic character is now bye-bye! Helloooooooo OC time baby!

Bio: Syron the fox can manipulate sound by use of the giant Hylex (pronounced High-leks) crystals (the 4 floating violet shards) that follow him at all times. They are tethered to him metaneurologically by a single shard implanted in his neck (against his will) and it serves as a biological antenna to communicate. Through them, he can make them resonate at incredible frequencies, able to radiate shockwaves and sonic booms. He can use these to attack, defend, and propel himself. The disks on his gloves and shoes are laced with similar resonating materials, assisting in the control of sound around his body. Syron is not immune to his own soundwaves and can concuss himself if he fires a shockwave improperly. His powers will not work in environments with thin atmosphere (such as high atmosphere or space) as there is no medium for sound to permeate, but in areas of denser medium, such as water, his own blasts can become dangerous as their power is magnified tremendously (as the speed of sound is higher in denser mediums).

However, the element can ravage his body if used improperly. Overcharging the 4 spines with energy can cause parts of the Hylex inside his body to break off and enter his bloodstream. If this happens, Syron will enter cardiac arrest.

The Hylex crystals are also capable of changing formations to suit Syron’s needs in combat. There are five states in which Syron can adapt. These states are:

Balance Mode (crystals are violet and are suspended idly behind Syron)
This formation allows Syron to maintain a good balance of his Speed, Defense, Agility, and Attack. He doesn’t excel in any particular stat with this mode, but he also has no severely debilitated stats either. This means he can use the majority of his abilities while in this mode, but he lacks some of the firepower, mobility, and defense needed in order to overcome particular situations.

Pulse Mode (crystals turn vermillion and form a large X-shape behind Syron)
This formation allows for precision resonation and timing. Syron is able to enter a very precise timing mode similar to a metronome and can synchronize his actions very precisely with melee attacks (hand to hand), sound firing sequences (shockwaves), and causing objects to resonate (which can either power objects in particular instances or shatter other objects such as barriers made of certain materials). He can also match up a frequency with an enemy’s weapon and cause it to resonate with energy, which can cause an opponent to drop the item out of pain. While this form is a more ‘instance specific’ tool, it is invaluable in some spots. However, the downside to this form is that Syron is especially vulnerable during ‘offbeats’ or periods where the pulse is not being executed, as he will have very little defense or attack capability. It is possible to stun Syron in this formation by de-synchronizing him by striking him in the period when the pulsation isn’t firing.

Power Mode (crystals become green and align behind Syron’s fists to form giant fist-weapons)
This mode is Syron’s power mode, in which his stats in attack are incredibly raised but his mobility is severely hindered. Syron can ‘punch’ with enormous shockwaves of sound at close to medium range. While his movement is significantly slower, the power behind each punch is gigantic. Syron does not actually punch or inflict damage with the Hylex crystals themselves, but the sound wall generated by them. This mode is incredibly useful dealing with larger, stronger, and more cumbersome opponents as dodging is not required to such an extent as more nimble opponents. However, other modes such as balance or pulse are recommended for faster opponents with high agility and flight.

Dragonfly Mode (crystals turn light blue and form dragon-like wings behind Syron)
This mode is purely designed for immense speed and agility. Syron dawns a set of ‘pseudo’ wings formed by the Hylex behind him. With this, he is able to cannon himself forward using sound as a method of propulsion (similar to a scramjet). Because of this, Syron is capable of jumping to supersonic velocities and able to change direction incredibly quick (not unlike the flight of a dragonfly). However, he literally as no attack or defense in this mode (save for his ability to outrun his attacker). If hit in this mode, Syron is extremely fragile and can sustain severe amounts of damage. This is why Dragonfly Formation is used primarily as transportation, but it ‘can’ be used in combat as a way to get around the battlefield very effectively. Keeping that in mind, Syron does need a transition period of about 5 seconds to get in and out of this formation, meaning that he can be severely stun-locked if hit when trying to change formation. Because of this, Dragonfly mode leaves Syron the most defenseless out of all five modes.

Tank Mode (crystals turn yellow and form a wall around Syron)
To make up for the lack of defense in the previous mode, Tank mode sacrifices almost all mobility for the sake of superior defense, literally creating a sound shield around Syron and anyone inside the shield radius. This mode leaves Syron very immobile, but the formation is a very valuable asset as Syron often finds himself in situations that require an escort of another member or protection of a precious item. Syron ‘is’ able to attack in this form, but not nearly to the extend of Balance, Pulse, or Power. By using the Hylex Crystals to fire into the ground around him, he can ‘stun’ attackers using a ground-borne shockwave very similar to a blast caused by an explosive. While it can’t ‘destroy’ enemies, it can certainly buy Syron enough time to think of a way to do so. Not only that, this mode allows for Syron to Nullify sound around him, making the group inside the shield wall completely silent. However, he cannot attack at all when in nullification mode and because he is never invisible and the crystals themselves emit a steady glow, stealth becomes a very ‘interesting’ tactic to use in combat.

Backstory:

Syron was born into a rather normal family of Kaius T Grey and Sophia A Grey. Kaius Grey was, at the time until Syron was about 12, the world's leading experimental psychomechanical physicist and chemist, researching and making breakthroughs on the connection chemically and physically between a living sentient creature and a synthetic counterpart, with breakthroughs in robotics, synthetic organ technology, and weapon systems integration. Kaius had a regularly-visited test facility in a decommissioned lunar launch station for safety reasons and would often partake in trading with the regional space pirate trade fleet, the Pasiphae Legion, for hard-to-obtain supplies not found on-world.

When Syron was around the age of 12, his mother, Sophia fell victim to a potentially off world virus that corrupted and began to destroy her nervous system and with no cure in existence, Kaius invested all of his available resources into saving his wife. During this time, Kaius inadvertently created a new element, a crystal formation that allowed for perfect harmonization and linking between a hosts mind and the crystal itself, allowing for medical advancements all across the board, but also perfect weaponization capability. Just before he could use this element (acquiring the nickname of the Hylex element), the project reached public knowledge and for fear of its weaponization and devastating uses beyond the medical field and the fact that the project was kept hidden, the Hylex development project was halted and Kaius, Syron, and Sophia were exiled to Kaius' lunar facility for the protection of Alaria and her inhabitants from any possible implications the Hylex development had. All Hylex technology was seized and destroyed.

Shortly after, Sophia Grey died.

Kaius was thrown into mourning for the loss of his wife and began to salvage what he could inside the lunar base when he stumbled upon an alien artifact deep within the recesses of a blocked off passage in the lunar base. This 'sentient' artifact' corrupted his mind to do his bidding as it needed a host with a mind of weakened state (in this case mourning). It then assimilated Kaius to do its bidding vicariously; to reformat life on the surface of the planet as the artifact sought. (the origin of the artifact is still in question). Using Kaius mind, it planted a 'seed' in Kaius' brain to motivate him to accomplish these tasks. Kaius still thought as He would, not the artifact (the Lens of Betrayal), but now with the artifact's motives at his heart, which was now to avenge the loss of his wife by punishing the ones who took her away from him; the life on Alaria.

Syron during this time was in a relationship with a youthful girl of the Pasiphae Legion, Cassira Solarov.

Kaius scrapped together the remnants of the Hylex program and decided, rather than use it for beneficial purposes, to fully weaponize it so that it would integrate with a host to turn them into a living, breathing super weapon. At the same time, he began to develop a 5 stage-interlocking gem that would power an even more diabolical bioweapon that would originate from the host of the Hylex merger, turning them into a Titan/Colossus of the element itself, executing the whim of Kaius and subsequently, the Lens of Betrayal. The gem was dubbed the Calamity Diamond.

After the Hylex was weaponized and ready for merge with a host, Kaius hired an Experimental Weapons Firm (later discovered to be Datastorm Industries) to develop a machine to successfully merge a host with the element without dying. A young 'out-of-the-gate' developer/intern was assigned the project under terms to not reveal a word of the project to anyone. This intern, Faulkner Reidd, would later be the one to rescue Syron from the operation after realization that his machine would nearly kill and would turn Syron (who would become his best friend) into a weapon of untold destruction.

Finally, it was discovered that only two candidates were able to merge with the element due to blood type; Kaius and Syron. Kaius was not willing to offer himself as a test candidate and thus Syron was chosen to be part of the 'program'. He was not a willing candidate by any means. On Syron's 14th birthday, he disappeared. Cassira went into a panic in an attempt to find him but was continuously locked out from any information on his whereabouts. Datastorm Industries locked her and everyone else out of information on his location.

Syron was then indoctrinated into the program and was, through a very brutal method of merging, made one with the element. A shard of the element (which was designed to force Syron’s body to ‘grow’ the calamity diamond inside him) was forcefully inserted into his upper spine at the neck and the Hylex Crystals were then Tailor-made to match his DNA signature, becoming permanent metaneural extensions of his body, capable of generating incredible sonic shockwaves and sonic booms using hyper-resonance (sound waves) that emanated from the crystals themselves. Faulkner Reidd was forced to watch the entire procedure from the balcony above the machine and, realizing his horrifying mistake to help Kaius, helped Syron escape before Kaius could take his healing body to the Lens of Betrayal to fully indoctrinate Syron with its malicious intent.

Faulkner and Syron escaped to Alaria (Syron still being in critical condition form the merger) and alerted the global authorities of the restart of the project under Kaius. In an attempt to pursue Syron, Kaius quickly began a merger process on himself using the beta variant of the Hylex, granting Pyrokinesis under a different frequency range of the crystals. But before he was able to recover enough to pursue, the station was besieged and He, his Hylex crystals, and the Calamity Diamond Fragments were captured. The Diamond was discovered to be indestructible unless completed with its 5 segments, so the individual components were scattered throughout the world in the most secure and hidden locations known (or unknown) to man. Kaius was locked up in the Titan Supermax facility for an indefinite sentence after being isolated from his crystals (also kept inside the prison). Syron recovered, suffering from a severe mutation 'Crystalaria' causing his trademark crystal spines to form as well as his arms to disconnect from his body and float beside him (although they function just fine). He currently is best friends with Faulkner Reidd, now the CEO of Datastorm Industries, the largest weapons development company in the world and works as a high priority delivery boy for him. Syron often carries a transport tube with him and delivers the most top secret packages and documents to the most important clients in the world (and because of his speed, he often gets paid very handsomely, although he has the job for the fun of it). Syron loves to test his own speed records at delivery and has more than enough money to support himself, although he choses to live a rather humble life.

However, Kaius recently escaped from help of another adversary, Faulkner's arch rival in the weapons industry, Mathis Crowe (a crow) and Kaius is now in search of the Calamity Diamond segments and Syron to complete his stalled plan. Syron must find the Diamond segments before Kaius does and destroy them before the plan goes into motion. However, Syron does not know he is part of the diamond himself. What will happen? Will he stop Kaius in time? Will he realize he's already part of Kaius' weapon? Stay Tuned.

Well hot damn! I haven't seen such originality and well developed charactization in a good while. Actually enjoyed reading this and the character design actually looks really good. Hope maybe a few more character stats and bios might come along the way. Seem to as well not only a good video game character, but seems well enough to be in a comic!

_{I can't type much because of numb fingers, but I really do love this version of him. It's always nice to see the style changes artists go through~
The detached arms are really well done, and I've definitely not seen another anthro quite like this before!
You may still be learning anthro, but you already have a very distinctive style.

thanks much, Sanc. I do need to draw him more but focus has shifted to High Roller stuff as of recent. I'm really happy with him transitioning out of 'sonic fan character' land and I feel that now he can successfully thrive as something completely original.
